Glyndebourne Touring - Rusalka

Natasha Jouhl impressed in the title role, her clean, silvery tone cutting through the orchestral texture well in moments of despair, while she phrased the (in)famous ‘Song to the Moon’ tenderly, especially some stunning pianissimo singing in that aria’s second verse. That she was able to sing so divinely whilst sporting an incredibly long tail and being man-handled by the masked troupe of dancers so as to give an impression of gliding and diving through the waters, was admirable.  Jouhl makes Rusalka a believable heroine.
